We sailed last night at around 10:30 pm and, as promised, it started to get a bit rough once we got back out into the open sea. In the shower this morning I either held onto the rail or leaned against the wall to make sure I stayed inside the shower. We had breakfast downstairs on deck 5 at Compass Rose since we thought it might be a bit rough up at the buffet on deck 10. It's supposed to calm down a bit late in the afternoon. Neither of us is sick, it's just a bit more of a challenge getting around.
I went to the latest lecture by Sir David Durie called "Port or Claret" which concerned the history of red wine drinking in England. Claret was pretty much any red wine that came from the Bordeaux region and back in the 1800s it wasn't very good. Port was from Portugal and was also not really good back then. Claret was seen as the aristocrats' drink, port that of the middle classes. But over time, that has changed and now "claret" has been replaced by the specific red wines of the Bordeaux region and is generally drunk with meals, while port is usually reserved for after dinner.
We had lunch in Compass Rose as it was still a bit rough. The afternoon was spent reading and a little napping before losing again at Trivia. Tonight was the Captain's Seven Seas Society party again. We only attend to hear the numbers of passengers on board. For this segment there are 379. We had the delicious miso glazed sea bass at Compass Rose which is only on the menu on the days of these parties.
I tried the show but again it was way too loud so I left early. It was a singer who was on earlier in the cruise and I don't think we made it through her show then either. Fortunately the seas have calmed down to a reasonable level so it should be a good night.
