At Sea

Today is the first of 4 sea days before Bermuda.  There's a tropical storm, Danielle, in the north Atlantic so Captain Luksa said we would be diverting south a bit to avoid it.  He's putting the pedal to the metal and going around 18 knots to make up the time so we'll be in Bermuda as scheduled.  Fortunately today the ocean is calm so it's not a problem.  He said tomorrow late afternoon we will be closest to it and may feel a bit more motion then.

We had breakfast with Sarah in Compass Rose, then off to the lecture on the influence of Columbus' explorations on both the old and new world.  Meh.

Had lunch at La Veranda, an Indian buffet, and then another lecture on Berlin Cabaret.  It wasn't my favorite of his lectures, but he has some good ones coming up over the next few days.

This afternoon we met with the Cruise Consultant on board to book 2 back-to-back cruises on the Voyager in September/October 2023 in the Eastern Mediterranean.  Michael really wants to see more of Greece and these cruises have lots of stops in Greece along with Turkey and some in Italy.  We start in Monte Carlo and end in Rome.

Trivia was our usual poor performance.  Sarah had dinner plans and the rest of us ate at Compass Rose.  I mixed it up a bit and instead of dessert, I had a grasshopper cocktail at the table.  That reminds me - yesterday as we were leaving Horta we noticed a preying mantis on the outside of our balcony.  We couldn't reach it to shoo it off so I hope he jumped off before we got too far.  Otherwise he's going to be in for a rude surprise when he finds himself in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

As we got ready for bed we noticed a bit more wave action already.  Hope that darn Danielle has not changed course.
