New Plan Again - At Sea

We were scheduled to dock in Eskafjordur, Iceland this morning, but when we got up into the fjord, it was too rough even to dock.  The wind was blowing quite hard and Captain Aris decided it was not safe.  So we turned around and headed back out for our next port.  Poor Cruise Director Ray had to scramble again to reschedule the day, but did a valiant job as always.

We had risen even earlier than usual and had room service breakfast because our meeting time for the tour was 7:45 am.  The ship seems especially cold today so we only spent a short while at the Coffee Connection before heading to the morning talk by Diana Preston on "Made in Heaven? - Tempestuous Royal Marriages".  She didn't even need to discuss those of the recent past because there were enough over the last 200 years to give her material.  Nice to know that some things really don't change.

The seas are really rough again today so we stayed down on Deck 5 at Compass Rose for lunch.  Again, the room was quite cold, so Nino said he'd ask the Engineering Dept. to warm it up.  I must not have been the only one to comment on it.  He is so kind.  Then it was back to the cabin for a bit of a nap before going to Ray's afternoon show.  He is 72 but can still sing and dance very well.  He also uses big puppets in some of his ventriloquist acts.  He's quite good, but it isn't my favorite form of entertainment.  I'd rather he just sing.

My new trivia team isn't as good as the last, but we had a respectable showing.  We had dinner with Sarah and Darlene and Jim in Compass Rose.  The sea is still very high.  One of the windows in the restaurant shattered due to the wind and waves at lunchtime so that section was closed off.  We decided to skip the show again and just returned to the cabin to watch some TV.  Hopefully we'll be able to dock in the Faroe Islands tomorrow.
