New York

After a mostly sleepless night, we got up early to do last-minute packing and take care of the house.  Fortunately, we arranged to go to the train station a bit early.  It's only about 14 miles and should be a 30-minute trip.  But there was a big accident on I-66 that had traffic backed up well past our onramp so Dwight took the back route.  We had to deal with 2 more accidents and lots of other drivers avoiding I-66.  Consequently, it took us almost an hour to get to the train station.  By then we only had to wait about 20 minutes for the train and then we were off.  The train ride was uneventful and we arrived into Penn Station right on time.  Then a quick Uber to the Plaza Hotel and check-in.  This evening was the gala dinner with a short cocktail hour before.  We shared a table with some new friends (Patty and Gordon from Chicago, Sho May and Yuan from Danville, CA and Ronni and Tony from Ft. Lauderdale).  Dinner was very good and a good time was had by all.  Jason Montague, President and CEO of Regent Seven Seas, was there and said a few words.  We learned that there are 118 of us doing the full Grand Voyage and that the ship is full.

A big day tomorrow so we hit the sack right after dinner.
