This picture is another of my "stock" photos taken a few days ago when the seas were calm. This morning started out calm but progressed over the day.
We changed our clocks back one hour for the last time as we are now on New York time. We awoke early and went to Coffee Connection to wait for Compass Rose to open for breakfast at 8:00 am. While there, Carl joined us, and then we all went to breakfast together. Just after we had ordered, Sarah came in and joined us too.
After breakfast, I went to the first lecture on New York that was listed as starting at 10:00 am but for some reason he started 15 minutes early, so I missed the first part. What I saw was mostly about the art museums. The second lecture was about Radio City Music Hall. The lecturer, Steven Rivvellino, was the manager there for 13 years and really knows the history. It was quite an interesting lecture. One interesting thing was that when it was built in 1932, a special elevator was built under the stage that is so powerful it can lift many tons up to the stage. The navy was so impressed that it used the design for their aircraft carriers and during WWII they stationed armed guards at the entrances to the basement so that no unauthorized people could get down there and study the mechanism. The elevator is still in use today.
Lunch was a Tex-Mex grill on the pool deck and I'm afraid I ate too much. Tbis afternoon the Grand Voyagers were invited to the theatre for a farewell message from the Captain and a showing of a voyage video they made for us. It was fun to go back and remember. They put the file on a thumb drive for each of us as a memento.
Today was the day to "buy" branded merchandise with all those Regent Reward Points we've been accumulating. They reserved the first 1/2 hour for Grand Voyagers. I was able to get a windbreaker and golf balls for Michael and 2 shirts for me.
There was a special early show at 6:15 pm which was good - a female piano player who was quite talented. That finished just in time for our birthday dinner for Lois. Karen and David joined us and it was a lively evening. Actually, a bit too lively. Captain Luksa had said that the rough seas would begin around 6:30 or 7:00 and he was spot on. It got progressively worse over the course of dinner. Around 9:30 we gave up and carefully made our way back to our various cabins. It is really rocking and rolling now, so I think I'll close and climb into bed. This is supposed to go on all night. Oooh boy.
